Any recommendations for a journey recorder. Lots on ebay but this seems a good deal.  dash camera

Bob has been playing about with these, sure he'll be along soon to give you some info, from what he told me though some don't do a full recording, the one he got was stop/start so made a very jerky film

This is the I got and it is rubbish, recording starts and stops every 3 seconds, only for a split second but the recording is not continuous so makes a very bad recording. I paid I think £18 for it but on fleabay its now only £11 but leave it alone, its rubbish.

The one alanp recommends looks like a good by from a reputable company.

I have one of these Alan ...are you sure you have not got it set on MOTION activate, that could be your problem with the stop start even if you are driving .It also depends on the size of SD card  my 2gb gives me decent footage the only problem is when its full it starts over write itself. You could stitch the bits together with a video programme I havent bothered. Reasonable quality play back on the computer but it is only £18.

I have a Road Hawk HD.  It came with a 8gb card but I bought a 64gb card so I wasn't having to download the videos so often.  It works well at night too. It came with a two year guarantee and if you have any problems setting it up RoadHawk are very helpful.

It even records conversations in the vehicle and just outside so if there was an accident you can record what the other party said.

Have a look on the Road Hawk website.

Have a look for gopro if you want a good quality recorder, seen a lot of videos lately from these cameras and they are good quality, lots of people using these for aerial photography in their quadcopters

Nothing to do with the business Bob - its all mine  Laughing

Offset the price against the reduction in my insurance premium via my broker.  Premium just over £200.  Laughing

Someone pointed me towards THESE CAMERAS today, would make a very good dash camera, you can see a video below of them being compared to a Go Pro Hero 3 camera, which are very good quality and retail for about £275

£70 on Amazon

Did you sort this Bob, been informed today that a lot of these cameras now need a class 10 memory card (faster read/write) and many fake cards just aren't up to it, and we all know how many fake memory cards are about, they reckon over 60% of memory cards sold on Ebay are fake  Shocked

No Ken I have been using my camcorder and that works well with the mini CD disc, but the engine noise is a bit overpowering in my cab so next time I will record in mute mode and dub sound later.

Might try one of those class 10 cards if they are too expensive as the recording is just for fun.

My engine is relatively quiet, but I have an awful lot of road noise, so I will have to have a look at doing some insulation work, especially the rear wheel arches!
