Where can I find one of these.

Where can I find one of these.

Post by whistlinggypsy on Wed 25 Nov 2015 - 18:08

Where can I find one of these, seen it i a german motorhome magazine but no details given and I have searched everywhere.

It looks very light and easy to put over any Mobile vehicle, and does look easier than the UK caravan and motorhome covers to place into position without the aid of a ladder.

Yes thanks Ken, I have seen this type, in fact my son has one and he like it and said it was not too bad to put on, but the one I pictured was of a very light weight material and fully waterproof but their was no further info on a supplier. It was in this month's Pro Mobil Magazine which I translated from German to English in the hope it would, so further investigation is required.

I must confess to a bit of a dislike for these things.

Surely the wind will get underneath (even strapped down) causing the material to possibly chafe the van paintwork?

Also, I'm a firm believer in allowing an unrestricted trickle air flow to work it's way through the van interior - I crack open both roof vents. Do these covers have vent slits? If not, condensation and interior mould could result.

Also, in winter, I like to get as much sunshine and warmth into my motor home as possible. These covers stop that completely.

Sorry, not for me, but I would be interested in any pleasant and constructive comments on my post.

Mind you, I camp right through the year, so I wouldn't have time to put one up anyway!

Cheers......

I agree with sweetpea I also am not a lover of these things and never had one when we had motorhomes as we were always away somewhere in them and they were not in storage any length of time, but now having a caravan things are a wee different as we tend not to make instant decisions to just getaway for the weekend as more planning has to be done as where to park up, so different from a M/H.

Another reason I was thinking of getting one is that where we are in the storage area alongside a large barn type building and in the countryside there are loads of nesting birds in the roofs resulting in van covered in bird crap, on the side panel it is not a problem as easily cleaned, but on the roof it does cause some problems as it is not seen and after seeing the problems and expense John (BJ Derby) had with their M/H prevention is better than the cure.

Thanks Mel for your imput, a couple of possibles in there, hope you are safe n sound down in the sunshine by now, and save some for me for after xmas.

Bob mon plaisir heureux d'être de l'aide....
The weather is excellent.Hot and SUNNY.
We was on the new paid Aire at Silves..the new site ...very nice...very clean with a reception /and young lady...7'50 euros pn that includes potable water, dump and cassette empty point, 6amp ELEC, free wifi with two showers also there was a auto washer 4.50 and a dryer...in the office...takes about 40 vans...BUT it looked like a lot of the motorhomes had been there for months and months..Nederlands, French with some Brits so when we got there not a lot of places left about 6 or 7...then onto Lagos.Touriscampo

Always grateful for your assistance Mel, we have been to Silves a couple of times in the past but the new Aire sounds great, sadly we cannot use it.  Sad
